We got a call about an injured mother dog with a popped-out eye and a skin infection. This mother dog was living in an industrial area with her family. She was rescued by RRSA India from the city of Anand. We picked up her puppies and placed them in a safe location before rescuing their mother. Anya was so scared. She was very frightened and insecure.
Anya was going to be with us for a while because she was injured and her eye had popped out due to a car accident. She also had a skin infection. She knew that her puppies were with us, which made her afraid and confused as she did not know what was happening. Anya was not interested in the food we offered her. She just wanted her puppies back.
She pleaded with us for her puppies, communicating with us in her own way. Her condition was very dire. She did not want to escape without her puppies and did not want to surrender. Finally, we managed to catch her and shift her to the RRSA Animal Shelter. She was now in safe hands. Relaxed with her puppies, Anya’s terrible shape and mental scars from whatever she had gone through started to improve.
The good sign was that she began eating well. Her healing journey had started. Anya seemed to be going into shock, so we stabilized her with IV fluids. The next day, we prepared her for eye removal surgery. Her eye was successfully removed by surgery. Now, Anya needed food and medicine. She was getting stronger each day.
Seeing her regain her strength and spirit was heartwarming. Despite the pain and trauma, Anya’s resilience shone through. She bonded deeply with her puppies, and their presence seemed to comfort her immensely. Every day brought small improvements, and we were hopeful for a full recovery. Anya’s journey from the industrial area to the shelter marked the beginning of a new, hopeful chapter in her life.
Her trust in people was gradually coming back, and her neck wound was healing well. The vet sanitized the wound twice a day, and she was still under strong antibiotics and analgesics. By the seventh day, Anya looked much better. Her recovery was amazing, and she was set to have her stitches removed in a week. Anya had gone through so much, but her spirit and will to live were truly inspiring.
