Dog accidentally tears up favorite toy—then nervously watches dad sew it back up

Everyone who owns a dog knows they get attached to one certain toy. When that favorite plaything gets lost or taken away, you can see the heartbreak on their faces.

Of course, a dog’s idea of playing with their toys is to gnaw them to shreds or bury them in the backyard, so they don’t exactly have much longevity.

But when one dog went a little too rough on his favorite doll, his owner stepped in to save the day.

A dog named Leo is crazy about his favorite toy, a brown stuffed animal he carries around everywhere.

But in May, Leo got a little overzealous with the toy, accidentally tearing it. With the fluffy insides coming out, the toy would be destroyed if Leo kept playing with it.

But Leo also couldn’t bear to be parted with his pal:

“[My dad] took the toy away from him and put it away so he couldn’t reach it, but he was crying and trying to reach for it,” Leo’s owner Haley Alaxanian told The Dodo. Luckily, they had a plan to save the day:

“That’s when my dad decided to get his sewing kit out and started sewing it back together.”

The dad performed stuffed animal surgery, carefully stitching the dog toy back together.

Leo watched on with great concern:

Hayley recorded the sweet moment. “That is the first time I’ve seen him sew a dog toy together,” she told The Dodo.

And much to Leo’s relief, the surgery was a success, and he was happily reunited with his stuffed animal.

Hayley shared the video on Facebook while her sister posted it on Reddit. Soon the video was going viral and delighting people across the internet.

One fan even made the scene into artwork:

“My dad threatened us all if we posted but it’s just too good,” Hayley wrote.

Indeed, the video captures a sweet moment that’s a perfect example of the lengths we go to make our pets happy.

“It is the sweetest thing ever,” Hayley told The Dodo.
