Wildlife photographer Barbara D’Angelo (Barbara D’Angelo) captured a large alligator taking down a small alligator in Orlando Wetland Park, Florida, USA. Weekly newspaper Reported on March 22. After visiting her father, she turned into the park to watch the sunset and saw this impressive scene.

At the time, D’Angelo was only about 3 meters away from the animal. She stood still for the photo, lest the alligator think she was a threat. “I saw through the camera that the crocodile raised its head and dropped its prey on its neck to crunch the bone,” she said.

D’Angelo estimated the large crocodile to be about 2.4 meters long, but the tail couldn’t be seen because it was only focused on the predator’s face. The average size of an American alligator (Mississippi alligator) is 2.5 m for females and 3.4 m for males, according to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. However, any crocodile longer than 1.2m may pose a threat.

Coleman M. Sheehy III, a specialist in the reptile-amphibian division of the Florida Museum of Natural History, said it’s not uncommon for alligators to kill each other. “Larger crocodiles can eat smaller crocodiles. However, the frequency of this behavior varies widely, depending on other food sources available and whether larger crocodiles can eat smaller crocodiles. No,” he said.
