Account Avalon Kotze shared footage online of the python trying to strangle a mongoose, while 15 members of the victim’s family, surrounded by members of the victim’s family, rushed to tear its skin and attack its head online. Instagram social networking site reported on March 29, according to Weekly newspaperThe video was filmed by Coates from the kitchen window of his home in Johannesburg, South Africa. The mongooses in the video have a striped coat on their backs, suggesting they are striped mongooses, a mammal native to sub-Saharan Africa.

According to the National Zoo and the Smithsonian Institute for Conservation Biology, the striped mongoose is about the size of a cat, measuring just 30 to 46 centimeters long with a 30-centimeter tail. They usually eat insects. The striped mongoose’s diet consists mainly of millipedes and beetles, but they also eat birds, eggs, snails, fruit and snakes. The animals are highly social, living on average in herds of about 20 animals, with one male being the leader. Although they roam alone in search of food, they also share some shared responsibilities, such as fending off predators and hunting snakes.

When threatened, civets regroup and coordinate defenses to protect vulnerable members. Bold and cooperative behavior makes mongooses formidable opponents. Any predator trying to eat a member of the herd will inevitably have to deal with the rest.

The striped mongoose can employ a self-defense tactic called “siege,” in which the entire flock competes against a predator in a closed circle, moving rhythmically and hissing to look like a formidable opponent. Civets also work together to raise their offspring. However, male civets can engage in fighting during the breeding season, and females are sometimes forced to leave if the herd becomes too large.
