A few days ago, veterinarian Son Boyums was working on a remote farm in Kayseri province, central Türkiye. As he tended to the animals, he suddenly heard the sound of a dog screaming in the distance. The cry, filled with desperation, came from an area affected by a recent landslide.

Unable to ignore such a heart-wrenching sound, Boyums immediately set off in the direction of the cries. Following the desperate barking, he soon discovered a dog buried neck-deep in the rocky earth, unable to move. Realizing the urgency, Boyums grabbed a shovel and began to dig.

He worked quickly, removing the dirt surrounding the trapped dog. As he freed the distressed animal, he noticed faint barks coming from the ground beneath the rocks. The dog he had just rescued looked extremely frustrated and helpless, but Boyums quickly understood that more dogs were buried alive beneath the surface.

Fearing that using the shovel might injure the puppies, Boyums decided to dig with his bare hands. He raced against time, carefully plowing through the dirt and rocks with his hands. One by one, he uncovered the trapped dogs, all the while hoping they were still alive.

Boyums speculated that the mother dog had made a den in the nearby hills to care for her young, only for a landslide to tragically bury them. After two exhausting hours of digging, he managed to rescue a total of eight dogs. Sadly, one did not survive, but the mother dog was reunited with her seven surviving puppies.

Upon examination, Boyums found no obvious wounds on the mother or the puppies. Moved by this chance encounter, he decided to adopt the entire family, ensuring they would have a safe and loving home. From that day forward, they no longer had to live in fear, thanks to Boyums’ compassion and determination.
