He Punched & Kicked His Girlfriend’s 5-Month-Old Pup For Urinating In His Crate

People who hurt animals tend to have a pattern of harming people as well. According to the Humane Society, there is a direct connection between animal abuse and criminal violence.

Each day, someone suffers at the hands of an abuser, and that abuser has often harmed animals at some point in his or her life. Police say 30-year-old John Dudley, Jr. of Bristol, Tennessee is one of them.

When officers from the Bristol Police Department received a call about a domestic violence incident, they spoke to the victim shortly after arriving on the scene.

She told officers Dudley got upset with her 5-month-old Great Pyrenees puppy for urinating in his crate.

Dudley allegedly pulled the frightened dog from his crate, tried putting him in the bathtub, and then the dog “bit” at him. At this point, the victim says Dudley punched and kicked the helpless pup.

She tried to stop Dudley, but he pushed her into a wall, at which point she left the residence to call for help. The poor dog was injured and removed from the residence.

The dog was seen by a local veterinarian, where he was found to have jaw and front paw injuries as well as lost and damaged teeth as a result of the beating. Dudley was arrested, booked into jail, but released.

The next day he went back to the same residence, argued with the victim, and allegedly held a knife to the woman’s throat, threatening to kill her. Dudley also is accused of saying he would kill everyone she loved and himself if she left him.

Dudley has a history of assault against the woman, so the District Attorney’s office advised Dudley to be charged with aggravated assault and two counts of a protection order violation.

An official release on the incidents revealed Dudley is “currently on supervised probation and, as a condition of his sentence, he was ordered to stay away from the victim and have no contact with her.”
