Rescue Pit Bull Thinks He’s A Cat, And Even Climbs On Top Of The Fridge

Meet Mako the dog … the dog who is actually a cat…. A dog-cat if you will.

What is a dog-cat you ask? Well, Quite simply a dog-cat is a dog that thinks it’s a cat, and although an extremely unusual phenomenon; Beth and Sam Castiller are sure that they harboring one of these rare beasts under their very roof.

We know, we know you’re a little skeptical and so were we! But if there was ever a pair who could spot a dog who mistook itself for a feline, it would be these two ladies.

“The cats get up on the cabinets. Once he saw them doing that, immediately he was up there anytime they’re there.”

Well, whether you put it down to fate/destiny or luck it sure wasn’t intentional. Adding another puss (of any kind) to mix was never on the cards for the Castillers’ who started the search for the newest member of their family at a local shelter after deciding their home was in need of some canine energy.

They of course had the typical reservations while doing so. Would the dog like the cats? Would the cats like the dog? could this really work? but all their fears and doubts dissipated when they locked eyes with two-year-old pit bull, Mako.

Speaking to Bored Panda about the moment they found Mako Beth said;

“When we went to the pet shelter, Mako had looked over his shoulder and gave us direct eye contact and we just fell in love with the little guy” “At the time, he looked like a bobblehead because his head was so much larger than his body, we just thought he was adorable.”

So after enquiring with the shelter about Mako’s temperance with cats, they took him home with them and devised a plan to ensure an easy transition for Mako and all their kitties.

“We initially kept the cats in a separate part of the house because we wanted to slowly introduce them to the new dog,” Bethany told Bored Panda.

For one he never barked… ever. He always showed a strong preference for cats toys over his own but, it was until they introduced Mako to the cats that they truly saw how eerily feline-like he was.

Fortunately, Mako’s strange behavior didn’t seem to bother any of the four-legged portion of the Castiller family who welcomed the pup with open arms.

Even though it means not leaving food out on the counters, Mako’s family wouldn’t trade him for any dog-like dog in the world.
