While cats and dogs might not be sworn enemies, they do differ in temperament and mannerisms. Cats and dogs who don’t get along usually try to stay out of each other’s way to keep the peace.
But we think this notion of the predominant enmity between dogs and cats is vaguely misdirected for the most part, and this video proves just that!
This video was shared by a woman in Turkey who chanced upon the rare sight of a dog attempting to rescue a drowning cat!
The woman saw a wee cat barely keeping afloat after accidentally falling into the water. But before she could save the cat, she saw a dog approaching to help the feline!
The woman decided to keep the camera rolling as a heartwarming encounter unfolded before her eyes.
As the worried dog leaned forward to check in on the cat, the cat extended her paws toward him and begged him to help her. Without wasting another second, the dog dived into the water to save the day!
The dog went underneath the water as he positioned his body under the cat and maneuvered her up on his back. Once the cat mounted securely, he piggybacked her to the shore and helped her move to dry land.
He himself struggled to hoist himself up after rescuing the cat. But he was thankfully steady on the land within a couple of seconds!
Needless to say, this dog’s selfless and thoughtful gesture touched the hearts of millions across the globe.
But as this video was shared on social media, it divided the internet over the “shallow” and “insensitive” actions of the woman who filmed this video, mainly because people thought she should have helped the animals instead of filming them.
Many people have accused the woman of being preoccupied with taking a video when she could’ve helped the cat herself.
But other people defended her actions, as they believe that animals get stronger when they figure things out by themselves, without human interference.
