Dogs are known for their unwavering loyalty, their ability to persevere through tough times, and their unending love. It is hard to understand how someone could ever abuse or neglect such amazing creatures. Unfortunately, stories of animal neglect and abuse are all too common. In Egypt, a German Shepherd named Bella was one such victim of neglect.
Bella spent the first year of her life on a third-floor balcony in Cairo. She was chained up to keep her safely on the balcony and unable to move beyond her tiny, harsh living conditions. Her days were filled with waiting for her owner to show her love, which never came. Bella was forced to endure harsh weather conditions, little food, and no exercise.
As time went on, Bella’s living conditions only worsened. She was eventually tied up so tightly that she was unable to move or lie down comfortably. The abuse became intolerable, and Bella made the decision to flee. She leapt from the balcony, causing shock and horror to onlookers as she fell to the ground. Unfortunately, her fall was abruptly halted by the heavy chain around her neck. Bella was hanging from the balcony, suffocating as the corroded metal links cut into her skin.
Bystanders quickly jumped into action, trying to find a way into the structure to rescue the terrified and wailing dog. However, before anyone could reach her, Bella dangled from the balcony for over five hours. Miraculously, Bella survived, but the chain had severely damaged her neck, cutting right through to the muscle. Bella was very undernourished, and her bones were visible all over her body.
Thankfully, Bella eventually made a full recovery thanks to the efforts of many kind people. She was taken to a shelter where she received medical care and nourishment. Bella was then adopted by a loving family in Texas and now has a doggie brother. She enjoys going to the park, playing in the water, and relaxing on the couch.
It’s heartwarming to know that Bella’s story has a happy ending, but it’s important to remember that many animals are still being mistreated and neglected. It’s up to us as humans to speak up and take action against animal abuse. Every animal deserves a life filled with love, care, and respect.
