The Incredible Rescue of Flossie the Terrier Who Was Buried Underground for 56 Hours. When Flossie, a 9-year-old terrier, disappeared on April 25, her owners knew they had to act fast.
They searched for hours, calling down rabbit holes and even employing tracking dogs to help find their beloved pet. However, it wasn’t until a neighbor heard a faint bark coming from under a bush that they knew Flossie was still alive.
Flossie had fallen into a rabbit hole and was stuck underground for over two days before rescuers were finally able to pry her out. The dramatic rescue video shows a green-shirted man, Tom Leary, chiseling away at the wall of the hole until Flossie’s small head is visible. After a few more minutes of digging, she is finally free.
Flossie’s owner, Poppy Vernon, believes that her dog dug her own path underground, ultimately blocking her own way out. She described it as “fully burying herself alive.” The experience has taught the family to keep a closer eye on their furry friend when she’s outside.
Thanks to the quick actions of Flossie’s owners and the rescue team, this story has a happy ending. Flossie is now safe and sound, cuddled up with her family once again.
