One day while out on a stroll, a Gloucester, England, homeowner witnessed someone step out of a white truck and toss a plastic bag into a trash can. Thank glad they walked over to examine since something about it seemed suspicious.
In actuality, it was a little 8-week-old dog, not a plastic bag.
The adorable puppy had been thrown out like trash, shocking the human. The RSPCA’s Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home was asked for assistance after they swiftly picked her up and carried her there.
“Poor Winnie had been cruelly dumped in a bin like rubbish,” Haley Medlock, a staff member at the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home, said in a press release.
“It’s utterly shocking. We believe she’d been abandoned due to a deformity to one of her front legs which caused her elbow to be fused at an angle, leaving her unable to walk. It may be that her owner was unable to afford the veterinary treatment she needed or, as a breeder, may have felt they wouldn’t be able to sell her in such a state. Either way, to abandon her and leave her so helpless is completely unacceptable.”
In addition to having a malformed leg, Winnie has experienced a couple seizures since being taken into the RSPCA’s care, which they are actively looking into.
She is a really joyful, energetic little puppy despite her health concerns, and everyone is very appreciative that she is given a second chance at life.
Winnie’s foster mother, Ebony Poole, described her as “such a fun-loving youngster” in a news release. She enjoys her playtime and will then curl up on my lap for a restful nap.
In about 15 weeks, Winnie will require surgery to amputate her malformed leg, as well as physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to help her adjust to life on three legs alone.
Despite having already spent a significant amount of money on Winnie’s treatment, the rescue is prepared to take whatever necessary measures. They want to make sure she leads the happiest life possible in light of everything she has gone through.
“She is my biggest concern at the moment and I’m hopeful that the public will help us care for Winnie and erase the neglect she has already suffered at the tender age of just eight weeks,” Poole said.
Winnie still has some obstacles to overcome before she is ready for adoption, but she is receiving a ton of love and care from her rescuers in the interim.
“She’s loving her time with Ebony and is already learning new tricks,” Medlock said. “She’s such a sweet, friendly pup, and we’re hopeful that her future will be bright once she’s had her operation. She should make a full recovery and live a very happy life with just three legs!”
