‘Jackass’ star Steve-O helps longtime shelter dog get adopted

The Jackass franchise has been going for over two decades now, and whether you love or hate the gang’s brand of gross-out stunts and pranks, there’s no denying that it’s made celebrities out of its stars.

And recently, one starring member of the Jackass crew used his platform to do something incredible for a shelter dog.

Steve-O is currently on the road with his “Bucket List Tour,” and if you’ve ever watched any of his antics in the Jackass movies, you probably know the live show is not for the faint of heart.

“I did all these stunts that I’d never be allowed to do for Jackass,” he told Complex. “I did things that were flagrantly illegal. I did things that were super life-threatening, and, I made it all into a comedy show.”

But at a recent show at the Egyptian Theatre in Boise, Idaho, fans also got to witness a surprisingly wholesome moment in the middle of all the chaos.

Steve-O was joined on stage by representatives of the Idaho Humane Society, who introduced the audience to some of their adoptable dogs.

And amazingly, the publicity worked like a charm.

According to a Facebook post from the Idaho Humane Society, an audience member ended up adopting one of the featured pets: a dog named Quartz, one of the shelter’s “long-term pups.”

Thanks to Steve-O’s help, this dog finally found a home. Of all the crazy stunts Steve-O has pulled over the years, this might be the most wholesome.

“Thank you for being an animal welfare advocate and for using your platform to help raise awareness about local shelters! It was an awesome experience; we appreciate it.”

It turns out that Steve-O is quite an animal lover. According to his website bio, he and his fiancé Lux have four dogs and two cats.

They even plan to start their own animal sanctuary.

Sometimes it’s the most unlikely celebrities who do the most to help animals. Steve-O might be quite a wild stuntman on screen, but in real life he’s happy to use his platform to help dogs in need.
