It’s always great to have a loyal dog by your side, especially during life’s difficult times. A dog’s love can give you strength and get you through all challenges.

It’s even true for celebrities: actor Jeremy Renner, who earlier this year suffered serious injuries after a snowplow accident, recently showed a heartwarming photo of his special “protector” during his recovery.

On January 1, the 52-year-old actor was involved in an accident in which he was run over by a 14,330-pound snowcat at his home in Washoe County, Nevada. Renner suffered blunt chest trauma, and later revealed he broke over 30 bones in his body.

After being airlifted to the hospital, Renner was said to be in critical but stable condition and was in the intensive care unit.

Renner has had his family and friends by his side, and well-wishes from people around the world — and on top of that he’s had his trusty dog standing guard.

The Hawkeye star recently shared a photo of his dog, Hershey, sitting on his bed staring out the window, as if keeping watch. Renner called Hershey his “sweet love” and “little protector.”
