Doggy siblings ended up as strays after their owner died, now they’re looking for a new home

It’s always a heartbreaking situation when a dog owner dies and their pets have nowhere to go. Many dogs, including many seniors, end up suddenly upended from the only home they’ve ever known and struggle to find a new family.

That’s the case for two doggy siblings, who ended up as strays after the death of their owner — but now, they’re looking for a forever home.

Nassau County Animal Services, in Florida, shared a post about two dogs named Zach and Cody (presumably named after the Disney Channel sitcom The Suite Life of Zack & Cody), doggy siblings who are looking for a home after years of struggle.

Several years ago, their owner died, and after that the two dogs were “shuffled from one home to another” with no stability.

Even more heartbreaking, the two dogs ended up on the streets at some point and were found wandering as strays, before being taken in by Nassau County Animal Services.

After enduring so much over the past few years, the shelter hopes that Zack and Cody can find a loving forever home — one that will take them both in as a duo.

“It’s heartbreaking to think of them separated after all they’ve been through; we long for them to find comfort together in a forever home,” NCAS wrote. “Zach and Cody deserve a chance to feel safe and cherished once more, and we hope someone will see the beauty in adopting these two senior companions as a pair.”

Zach is 6 years old, while Cody is 13. Both dogs weigh less than 15 pounds.

NCAS encourages any interested adopters to fill out a pre-adoption form on their website and to come visit their location at 86078 License Road in Yulee, Florida. No appointment is needed.

It’s heartbreaking to read what Zach and Cody have been through since their owner died, and we hope there is someone out there who can take these dogs in as a pair!

Please share this story to spread the word and help these two find their forever home! ❤️🐾
