He Was Chosen, But Family Didn’t Bother Showing Up

When a shelter dog awaits his new home, it could seem like forever. Each day drags by while he is surrounded by loud barking and a stressful atmosphere.

They count the moments with forlorn faces, hoping this life will soon be a memory. For one shelter dog named Zare, his sad days seemed to be over for good when a family finally chose him.

But when it came time to pick up the deserving pooch, these unfeeling humans never showed up. The shelter staff was left heartbroken, and so was Zare.

In a touching video shared on TikTok by the Livingston County Humane Society under the username livcohumane, a dog named Zare is shown lying sadly in his kennel, looking as if he understood the disappointment he had just faced.

The video is captioned, “POV: you thought you were getting adopted last week but your family never showed up for you.” A representative from the Livingston County Humane Society in Rowe, Illinois, told Newsweek that Zare arrived at their shelter about six months ago.

“He’s almost 4 years old, and we believe he’s a Lab mix. He was transferred to us from another shelter, so we don’t know much about his past,” the spokesperson explained.

“He is the SWEETEST boy and would be so happy to give someone endless hugs and kisses. His ideal family would be someone who would take him out to run for a little bit, but he loves cuddling up with his person just as much.”
