Shannon was no stranger to rescue dogs having three of her own, so when she spotted a car pull up and dump a box near her home she feared the worst.
Security footage around her home caught the white pick-up truck stop in a parking lot in the dark and drop a cardboard box then drive off.
Shannon knew she had to investigate and find out why the driver felt it necessary to dump a cardboard box in the middle of the night.
Inside she found a pittie puppy in a bad way. The young dog was already losing a lot of fur and was in desperate need of food and water.
Shannon knew this tiny pit bull would need a lot of care.
“He was in such a terrible condition,” Shannon told The Dodo. “But he was still fighting and he was still hanging on.”
She called her tough new pup “Jiminy Cricket”, the loveable cricket from the Pinocchio fairytale.
With his ribs showing Shannon started the long process of getting his strength back up and gaining his trust.
He was timid at first but it wasn’t long before he realized he was being looked after by a true animal hero who would love him and keep him safe.
He recovered physically and mentally, established his favorite bed in the house and became good friends with the other dogs in the house and Shannon’s kids.
He soon became the largest dog in the house and Shannon decided he would be the family’s fourth rescue dog.
“This dog has been with us and has become such a part of our family,” Shannon added. “So we decided that Jiminy Cricket is staying with us and is going to be our fourth rescue dog.”
It’s animal heroes like Shannon that deserve all our praise.
This poor pup was close to death when she found him but looking at him now and how happy and healthy he is, is all thanks to her big heart. Thank you Shannon! Please share.
