Powell, 35, adopted Brisket, a terrier poodle mix, last year from the nonprofit Labelle Foundation. He announced the news in an Instagram post, showing off the adorable little puppy.

“It’s a ruff world out there, so I thought it was about time I hire a proper bodyguard,” Powell joked, calling the pup “1.5 pounds of raw power.”

Powell thanked the Labelle Foundation for all their “incredible work” advocating for dogs, and “for making me a dad.”

“I can’t wait to tackle all the adventures of life with this guy!”

Those adventures include moving back to Powell’s hometown of Austin, Texas from Los Angeles. Powell says that Brisket, true to his name, prefers the BBQ down in Texas.

“There’s better meat in Texas than there is in California, that’s for sure. And Brisket’s liking the space,” he told USA Today. “He’s gotten a lot of good cardio here in Texas.”

Though the two have moved out of LA, Brisket has still been getting a taste of Hollywood life, on the set of one of this year’s biggest blockbusters.

Powell stars in Twisters, the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 hit Twister which will be released on July 19. In a recent Instagram post, Powell shared a series of photos of Brisket on set, saying that he “joined the cast” and “was quickly called ‘the Lassie of his generation.’”

“Rumors are swirling of him leading a Homeward Bound reboot that would crown him as ‘Hollywood’s King of the Animal Kingdom.’”

Photos show the newly-adopted pup winning the hearts of the cast and crew, posing in matching hats with Powell and sitting in his own “cast” chair. (As an added bonus, one pic shows a shirtless Powell showing off his physique while holding the pup, which has had a lot of people online swooning…)

Powell told People last month that Brisket was a “such a well-behaved dog” that he was able to bring him to the Twisters set every day, and his colleagues were happy to look after the pup.

“Everybody can be a dog dad, but I really feel like I bring him everywhere, so he really has so many co-parents,” Powell said. “Every department was taking care of Brisket.”

“Brisket has the best personality,” he added. “He brings so much joy to everybody.”

In fact, Powell says that Brisket may becoming even more famous than he is. He recalled being stopped on the streets of New York City by a fan… of his dog.

“There was a girl, and Brisket was walking up. And she goes, ‘Oh, my God, that looks exactly like Glen Powell’s dog,’” Powell told People. “She didn’t even see me.”

What adorable photos! Thank you to Glen Powell for adopting this sweet little dog, it’s clear that they have an incredible friendship and Brisket was born for Hollywood! 🤩
