Inseparable dog siblings needed a new home together after ending up in shelter — now they have good news

When you’re a shelter dog, it helps to have a best friend by your side. Some dogs have such close bonds that shelter employees can’t bear to split them apart, and try to get them adopted as a pair.

It’s no easy task, as many potential adopters aren’t interested in taking in two dogs at once. But it’s worth it to keep two best friends together.

That was the case for an inseparable duo named Daisy and Otis, who finally got the good news they had been waiting for.

Daisy and Otis arrived at Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, in Asheville, North Carolina, last month. The 3-year-old Labs previously lived in a loving home together, but their owner had to give them up when they could no longer care for them.

It became clear to the shelter that these doggy siblings were a packaged item: their adoption page described them as “inseparable” with “a bond that’s as strong as their love for snacks.”

Though they had each other’s backs, the shelter proved to be a dispiriting environment for them after losing their home. “Each day they are in the shelter, you can see their spirit dim,” Brother Wolf Animal Rescue wrote on Facebook. “No amount of walks, treats or adventures make it ok to put them back in the kennel and watch their hearts break.”

The rescue wanted to find them a home as soon as possible, but they needed to find someone who would agree to take them in as a pair, as splitting them up would lead to more heartbreak.

“Daisy cannot be without Otis; he is her safe space,” they wrote.

Daisy & Otis’ story went viral, as many people shared their story hoping that there was a perfect family out there for the both of them.

Then, yesterday, their dream finally came true: Brother Wolf Animal Rescue announced that Otis and Daisy had been adopted out together!

Photos show the dogs as happy as can be as they head out of the shelter and to their new home, which sounds like a perfect environment for them.

“Otis & Daisy have acres of land to explore and run free, a dream for any dog, made even sweeter with your best friend by your side,” the rescue wrote on Facebook.

“They quickly fell in love with their new family and are already “Velcro” dogs with them, grateful to be out of the shelter.”

We’re so glad Otis and Daisy have found a great new home together! ❤️ Please share this story if you love dogs!
