Mangey, emaciated poodle makes incredible transformation after rescue — see her today

A poodle was found in terrible shape — but after being rescued, she made an incredible transformation and now looks like a whole new dog 😮❤️

Dog rescuer Kristin Erwin responded to a call about an abandoned poodle found near a snow cone stand in Dayton, Texas.

The poor dog was in desperate need of help, suffering from severe mange and had barely any fur left. She was also extremely thin, hungry and covered in fleas.

“My heart sank when I first spotted her,” Kristin wrote on Instagram. “She was in terrible shape. But too scared to come to me.”

But the dog was so hungry that she was able to lure her into a trap, allowing her to get the dog to safety. Kristin wrote that the dog, now named Babs, “quickly warmed up” to her.

“If she’s not next to me, she’s sniffing out dropped kibble. She loves meal time and laying on soft blankets. She’s only 40lbs so we’re doing multiple small meals a day.”

With the help of the nonprofit rescue ThisIsHouston, Kristin fostered Babs and cared for her for weeks, giving her much-needed care. Over time, the poodle’s condition began to improve, and Babs proved to be a sweet loving dog.

“She is little miss perfect here,” Kristin wrote. “She gets along with every dog she meets, makes no mess and has been super easy going.”

By July, Babs was looking like a whole new dog. When she was first rescued, her mange was so bad they didn’t even know what color her fur was. Over time her fur grew back, revealing a beautiful black coat on the happy dog.

“Bab’s transformation has been so fun to watch,” Kristin said.

“Comparing her day-one photos to current photos is just wild,” she told The Dodo. “She looks like a completely different dog.”

After weeks of recovery, Babs was spayed and had a meet-and-greet with an adopter who had followed her story from the beginning. Thankfully it was a successful match, and after a trial period the family adopted Babs for good!

“She is living the good life,” Kristin said. “She has a new fur sibling that she plays with and two human siblings … Her family adores her and can’t believe how sweet and gentle she is.”

Babs looks like a completely different dog! Thank you to Kristin for giving this beautiful poodle a second chance and helping her find a great new home!
