108-Old Woman Reveals Secret Of Living Long Life Is To Have A Dog Instead Of Children

An amazing 108 year old woman, who recently celebrated her birthday has disclosed her secret, to living an fulfilling life. Ada Daniel, a resident at Codnor Park Care Home in Derbyshire received over 300 heartwarming cards from well wishers on this occasion. Astonishingly even the King and Queen sent their greetings!

According to Ada, the key to her longevity lies in her choice of companionship; of having children she opted for the company of dogs. In an interview with the BBC, Kelly Goucher, an activity coordinator at the care home described Ada as an individual. Kelly once asked Ada about her secret to a life. She simply replied that it was due to having dogs rather than kids. Apparently Ada had greyhounds. Interestingly enough they were all named after Street Lane in Ripley where she used to live.

Additionally Kelly mentioned that Ada had been eagerly looking forward to her birthday since April. To make it extra special, for her centenarian milestone celebration the nursing home organized an appeal requesting 108 birthday cards through their Facebook page. They even shared a photo of Ada happily sipping on a summer beverage.

Kelly mentioned that the morning she woke up to a 135 messages, from people who wanted to send their greetings.

A clip from BBC Radio Derby on media captured the moment when Ada was surrounded by gifts, balloons and cards while a journalist read out a personal message from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

The message said; “We are delighted to know that you will be celebrating your birthday on June 1st, 2023. We extend our congratulations and heartfelt good wishes on this occasion.”

According to the Derbyshire Times Ada was born in Ambergate in 1915.

When she was 27 years old she married Percy, her husband who served in the war back, in 1944. The couple did not have any children. Percy passed away at the age of 73.

The publication reported that until she turned 97 years old Ada enjoyed taking walks into Ripley. It wasn’t until she reached the age of 103 that she moved into care.

According to the organization Oldest In Britain Ada holds the position, in the list of people in the United Kingdom.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that Ada received a number of over 200 cards on her birthday. This surge, in greetings was a result of a campaign initiated by her nursing home during the period.
