A dog on death row gave her fosterer a big surprise when she turned up at his home very pregnant! It all began when Nicholas agreed to foster a dog his friend had spotted a dog at a shelter in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The female dog named “Emma” was scheduled to be euthanized and time was running out Nicholas’s friend knew that Nicholas had fostered a dog before and connected him with Jesse’s Place Rescue Inc. (aka Save The Labs), Fox 13 News reported.
Nick wrote the rescue, “I’m interested in fostering and possibly adopting this sweet girl…I’m very patient, calm, gentle, and have plenty of time to work with her. My last rescued boy died in 2016 from cancer.”
Jesse’s Place was quickly able to arrange for Emma to be picked up at the shelter and brought to Nicholas, but unbeknownst to all the rescuers – Emma was pregnant! And it was clear she was going to give birth any day!
Luckily, Nicholas had experience birthing farm animals, Fox 13 learned. And rather than return Emma to the shelter for the birth, Nick would deliver Emma’s pups himself. So, with the help of his friend, Sheena, Emma delivered 6 healthy puppies!
All the puppies and mama are doing well. Nicolas will continue to care for Emma and her babies, who will undoubtedly find loving forever homes with help from Jesse’s Place Rescue.
